Marble

WHAT IS MARBLE

Marble is formed when Limestone is recomposed through the mixture of heat, pressure and the addition of minerals. This is therefore a metamorphic stone. Marble consists mainly of calcium and dolomite and can be very veined in appearance. This stone is porous and can be easily damaged when exposed to a moist, acidic atmosphere. Marble is available in either a polished or honed finish (matt). Sealing is vital. Marble is suited mostly for interior applications such as vanity bench tops, fireplace surrounds and table tops. We strongly recommend against using Marble for kitchen benchtops.

Marble is a metamorphic rock usually formed from limestone that has undergone physical and (sometimes) chemical changes in response to elevated temperature and pressure within the Earth's crust.
